At RHINOSHIELD, every product begins with a question: how can we make the everyday experience better through design? With the iPhone 16’s new Camera Control button, we saw an opportunity to rethink how protection and usability could come together seamlessly. The result was not just a phone case—it was a carefully crafted solution that enhances interaction while staying true to our sustainability principles.

The Camera Control button introduces a new way to capture moments, and we wanted to ensure that our case didn’t just accommodate this feature but elevated it. The challenge lay in maintaining a tactile, responsive experience while seamlessly integrating it into our protective design. Every detail, from the button’s responsiveness to its durability, was fine-tuned to provide an intuitive user experience.

Design is about making conscious choices. After months of exploration, we found our answer in Carbon Nanotube technology—a lightweight yet ultra-durable material, sourced from the semiconductor industry, that enables smooth and precise control for the camera button. By using a single material throughout the case, we maintained a 100% recyclable mono-material design. Even this tiny button is recyclable, ensuring high performance without unnecessary complexity.

Beyond materials, we focused on the nuances of interaction. Our dual-structure design ensures the button remains highly responsive while reducing accidental touches. From the height of the button to the subtle contours surrounding it, every element was tested and refined to create an effortless, natural feel in everyday use.

Great design isn’t just about functionality—it’s about enhancing the way you interact with your world. This project was an exercise in balance: merging protection, precision, and sustainability into a single product. The result is a case that feels like an extension of your device, thoughtfully crafted to support creativity and convenience without compromise.
